Question PC freeze while playing CS2 + stutters in game on fresh 9800x3d build

Hello everyone,

I have 2 problems with CS2 or my PC. I am kind of mad and disappointed because it is a fresh build. I will share more information on my setup, settings and what I have tried to fix the issue below.

Problem 1: Game is running with high fps(around 450 to 700, depending on map and location). My ping is normal and stable, but I get this strange stuttering while moving, peaking, looking around. This happens with spikes in MS (next to the fps counter, I think it is the input lag). Normally the MS is around 2 to 5 but it spikes quite often to 10-20 and when this happens I feel a stutter in the game. Sometimes it spikes to 80, even 100 and the game completely skips some frames.

Problem 2: This happens once in a while, maybe several times a week, but it completely freezes the whole PC. As I am playing cs2, the game suddenly goes to FPS below 10, MS spikes to 700-800, ping spikes to 200. My discord starts lagging, I cant even alt+tab normally - it takes probably 20 seconds and the whole pc is struggling. When this happens I get absolutely no errors or warnings in event viewer, my resources in task manager do not move. The pc fixes itself after 20-30 seconds and the game keeps playing.. no restarts or nothing like that. All temps are also normal.

Setup:
MB: Gigabyte B850 Aorus Elite wifi7
CPU: Ryzen 9800x3d
RAM: G.skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB 32 GB 6000-CL30
PSU: Corsair RM850x 2024 ATX 3.1
SSD: Samsung 990 PRO 1TB
Case: Phanteks xt pro ultra
GPU: Gigabyte 3080Ti Aorus
Monitor: 27inch 2K res 160Hz
Mouse: Razer deathadder v2 pro - wireless
Keyboard: Razer huntsman mini

Everything is brand new except the GPU, which I got from a close friend - had no issues with it.
The PC was built 20 days ago and since then I am trying to fix this issue.

Note: I also tried to play PUBG, LoL, Apex legends - no such issues there.

Here is what I tried to fix the issues:
- completely removed game bar
- removed G-play and Razer software (red an old post that these might cause those problems)
- Performance mode on everything - power management, set cs2 on high priority etc.
- tweaked Nvidia 3d settings several times
- tried with reflex on/off
- tried all in game settings on Low, lower resolution etc. - still same
- clearing cache - this sometimes fixes Problem 1 for a game or two, then it appears again
- hardware accelerated gpu scheduling - off

Pretty much already forgot most of the things I tried - most of the "fixes" I found on reddit and various other websites and nothing really helped me.
My mind is kind of blown, because game was running pretty much better on much lower end PC.

Any suggestions will be highly appreciated, I pretty much built this machine to play cs2, and its really pissing me off.

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

My ping is normal and stable, but I get this strange stuttering while moving, peaking, looking around.
Might want to include a video of the issue you speak of.

BIOS version for your motherboard? Which driver version are you on for your GPU?

Hello!
I found a person on reddit with the same issue:

BIOS version is the latest one from Gigabyte. For GPU driver I tried with the latest one, then switched back to 551.61 version, a bit better, but still have issues.

Hey,

I’ve been having the same issue as described in problem 2 and feel like I’ve tried everything.
Did you manage to find the solution maybe? It starts driving me crazy.

I also have the same CPU and motherboard so i think the issue is one of those
