So when I turn my computer on after it being off for a while, it often gets stuck on the mobo splash screen and doesn't move until i hold the power button, turn the system off and try again.

my specs:
Asus M5A78L-M/USB3 - mobo
MSI GTX 970 - GPU
FX 6350 @ 3.9 - CPU
Corsair 850 watt gold + ratting power supply - PSU
1tb samsung - hdd
500gb samsung - external
8gb - RAM
win7 - OS

Check your hard drive for errors and check HDD connectons if connected properly as system might be stuck looking for HDD. Secondly, you should upgrade your motherboard as it might not work properly with FX 6 or 8 core series CPU's.

right well first off the motherboard came with the processor installed and the socket (AM3+) Is compatible with the fx 8 and 6 core so that's obviously not the problem. Secondly i have checked all cables and secured them. Also, ive performed troubleshooting on my hdd and it found bad sectors which didn't fix any problems. im stumped 🙁

I know the motherboard being compatible with FX series processors but what i am saying is that it is not an ideal choice because of power phase issues. FX series are power demanding CPUs and dissipate quite a good amount of heat and good motherboards have 6+1 power phase along with better VRM's and heatsinks. 78LMT is meant for old athlon or phenoms. You may use it but you will face issues.
Secondly, regarding your issue, as there are bad sectors on HDD, I would recommend to replace the HDD or install windows on another HDD otherwise booting problem will always be there and also you might lose data if the HDD crashes. You may use HDTune to analyze your HDD health status.
One more thing you may try is to swap the SATA cable being used to connect the HDD to motherboard as sometimes a bad SATA cable might also lead to issues like this.

sorry for leaving this so long btw. If it is a drive problem then im going to have to put up with this problem for a while i don't really have money for pc parts right now, didn't really want top buy my way out of an issue tbh
