Hi guys,
I hava a problem since today. Randomly my main monitor turns black and my second monitors turns green and my PC freezes. Also the background audio loops. Both monitor are powered on and I have to hard reset my PC. I am running memtest but it could take a while to complete 10 passes. I gave run a lot o memory test in the previous months and my memory passed all of them.
Specs:
Asus ranger viii
6700k
Gskill ripjaws v 16gb 2666 mhz
Corsair rm650i
Kingston ssd k3 hyper x
Gigabyte soc r9 380 4gb

I tried previous gpu drivers and the problem remains. Also temperatures and psu volts seams perfect in hwinfo. Bios and drivers are at the latest versions. The problem happens usually while I browsing and open chrome or Firefox. Any help and ideas would be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

It might be caused by a program filling the RAM, if its win7 and it is the problem, generally disabling Super Fetch in services should fix it.
If this isn't the case, maybe try using different RAM sticks if you have some available.

It was working fine for months so I do not believe that there is an incompatibility issue with ram. If it's not faulty then it's something else. Also I have windows 10. What else could be the cause of this problem ? Thanks for your answer though.

I don't have any ideas straight away, but I would advise to check different components, other than RAM. Ie: take out the GPU and run onboard graphics and see if the problem persists, then leave it out and try another configuration, etc.

Same problem here. This happens when streaming netflix and i pause video. If i power off my monitors, when i come back and open them up my netflix playback screen is all green and my second one is black. Sometimes only one has the problem and the other one works. But almost 99% of the time the playback screen is green.
I think this might be a problem with Crimson 16.3, i don't remember experiencing this issue on older drivers. I will have to revert to an older version and see what happens.
What crimson version are you using?

The problem started with 16.2.1 version. Seriously this thing is stupid. When I launch a browser my main monitor turns black the second green and the audio loops. I installed version 15.12 and the problem was still here. An AMD guy suggested the amd clean up utility and that did not solve the problem either. DDU just got updated. I used it and installed the 16.3 version. Seems stable for now.
I don't know but I am glad I'm not the only one with this. AMD latest drivers are quite buggy. I don't remember having this problem either. Try AMD clean up then ddu and then the latest driver. If it's not hard give a small update when you try this.

After further investigation I found out that global overdrive settings were completely wrong. I believe msi after burner or wrong driver settings have something to do with this.Open Amd Radeon settings go to Gaming -> Global Settings -> Global Overdrive , enable it and then hit the reset button. And see if this helps. For now my system seems stable again if it crashes again I will update this post..I hope this will help.

I have used DDU before posting this. Did it a couple of times because i thought it might have been an installation problem. Didn't fix it obviously. Now that you mentioned afterburner, i have uninstalled it and see what happens. I'm not sure about the global overdrive since this should only apply to directx applications. The ting is with my problem, i don't get in a loop, pc is still pretty much functional, and i mostly get only one screen turn crazy. Sometimes i use windows key + P to reset monitor connection, and it works. I will post updates on this situation, thanks for the info so far !

Seems like a different problem... Global overdrive is in other word the overclock tool that comes with radeon settings if the settings are wrong, they are wrong for all applications.. Use furmark to stress test your gpu. But it does not look like a hardware problem because you mentioned the windows key + P work around. I hope the best

The windows key + P trick doesn't work when both screens are not working. The only mind boggling thing to me is why does this happen only when i power off my monitors. This hasn't happened though in the last 2 days. I have also disabled display energy saving ( the little option you have in windows to turn off monitors if you don't use them for a while, e.g. 15 min, 30, 1h ) . I'm still pretty much convinced this is a driver problem sincer this hasn't happened before crimson.
