Hello all,

I recently just upgraded my boot drive to a 1tb M.2 NVMe and ever since then, whether it's coincidence or not, it freezes for a second and immediately restarts at seemingly randomly times. I could be doing something as simple as watching a YouTube video. Nothing I'm doing seems to cause it and I can't find a reason in the event viewer. I've tried resetting windows twice, that didn't work. Can anyone tell me what's going on, or at least tell me how I can find out?

Specs:
  • i7 6850k OCed at 41GHz
  • GTX 1080 ti
  • 64gb RAM
  • ASUS Strix x99 mobo
  • Samsung 1tb M.2 NVMe Boot Drive
  • 2x 3tb HDDs for games & data
  • 750watt PSU 80+ Gold
  • CyberPower 900watt UPS
If you need more info, let me know.
Thanks

Yeah, I'm having a similar issue with no solution working ;(
This shows up in the crash report in Event Viewer.

BugcheckCode278

BugcheckParameter10xffff878f8ab28200

BugcheckParameter20x0

BugcheckParameter30x0

BugcheckParameter40x0

Also, this which I can assume is the cause.

-Failed with 0x57 retrieving AppModel Runtime status for package Windows.
EventID: 65

Open Event Viewer and see if you can locate the errors that are repeating that might be connected to the crash.

I'm quite sure you didn't actually MEAN that your CPU is overclocked to 41Ghz, since that would make you the world record holder for any known CPU ever. LOL.

Have you installed the Samsung NVME driver?

DO you have the MOST recent BIOS version for your motherboard installed? What version do you currently have installed? What is the ACTUAL model of your motherboard, because Strix X99 isn't a model number.

Yeah sorry, I meant 4.1, but now I've switched back to the default 3.2

I thought I had, but I will install the drivers again, just to be sure.

Mobo model#: ROG STRIX X99 GAMING LGA2011
Current BIOS: 2101

That UPS, for one thing, is really not compatible with that power supply. It uses a simulated sine wave and your PSU needs a pure sine wave unit. I would look into replacing your UPS with a pure sine wave unit and might simply remove it from the equation until such time as you are able to do so.

This is probably peripheral to your current problem though, but it might not be, so just be aware. Maybe test without the UPS in the mix to see if there is any change. Just something to be very much aware of because mixing an active PFC power supply with a simulated sine wave UPS can result in a variety of unexpected results such as nothing at all all the way up to major serious problems.

Make sure you have THIS driver installed. If you are unsure, install it again just to be sure.

So it seems like plugging my tower directly into the wall solved my USB flickering and, for a while, it seems to solve the freezing and restarting. But it started freezing and restarting again and the event viewer doesn't tell me what happened either.

It seems to be all of the USB ports. I've been using this PSU for about 5 or 6 years. And no, I don't own one of those so I haven't tested the outlets, but I added it to my wishlist now.

I'm sorry man, but unfortunately you are probably going to need to get some help from some other members, for a few days at least. I'm having knee surgery tomorrow and it's likely I may not be able to get back with you for a few days depending on how I'm feeling. Right now I'm just trying to get everything ready for it so good luck with the troubleshooting and if I'm able I'll check back in with you after, as soon as I'm feeling up to it again. :)
