PC freezes while playing games

I bought and assembled a pc for gaming. When i used to play games, the pc would freeze without any errors or bsod untill i hard reset it. It just freezes suddenly. I sold of my gpu thinking that it was the gpu's fault. Tried a friends gpu, still the same thing. So i gave up.
After around 6 months, i bought another one, still the same problem. I bought a card this time that didn't need a 6pin power connector. I have reinstalled windows, all drivers so i am confident its not a software problem, could you guys help me pinpoint where exactly is the problem. My specs are :-
AMD FX 8350
MSI 970 G motherboard
Corsair vengeance 8gb ddr3
Corsair VS650 watt psu
WD blue 1tb hd
Geforce 1050ti

To me it sounds like its the Power supply. I have a dead VS650 right next to me as I write this. They're not great quality.

Try another power supply.

Do you only experience issues when trying to play games? If so, then I'd suspect the power supply isn't able to deal with the increased voltages wattage the card needs under load. If the graphics card circuity isn't getting enough electricity it can bring a system down.

If it crashes randomly and outside gaming, then it could be something else. You eliminated drivers and the graphics card which is important info.

To me it sounds like its the Power supply. I have a dead VS650 right next to me as I write this. They're not great quality.

Try another power supply.

I swapped the psu for a cooler master 550watt psu, which was fully working before. The problem is still there, even after changing it.

One thing i noticed when i opened hardware monitor while playing. The cpu core temperature was 77c on stock cooler. Is the problem because of that? As for bios, i will check that too.

When a processor gets too hot, it slows itself down to protect itself from damage. The next step is a total system shutdown. I've seen a video where people took the CPU cooler of old Pentium processors. After 2 seconds, the game would lock up as the processor overheated.

I would try running the system with no side panel to eliminate airflow issues. I'd also consider redoing the paste and cooler if that doesn't help. Too much paste is basically an insulator. On an FX processor use a center dot on the CPU cap if you are using arctic silver, about the size of a pea but less than a Hershey kiss.

Ok, so i basically got a new cpu cooler, applied thermal paste, and ran a game. Still the same. Time to throw the pc.
