I've been trying to diagnose my friends freezing pc but didn't manage to reach any conclusion.
PC Parts:
- FX 6300
- 16 GB RAM
- ASRock 970 Pro3 R2.0
- Super Flower / AXP - 550W
- Nvidia GTX 770
Short backstory:
Last year pc was freezing doing random tasks: games, netflix, general usage.Eventually the pc stopped booting up and taking it to a pc repair center ended up with them replacing the motherboard + HDD. Fast forward to today, the freezes are back and I have tried to following things:
- Fresh windows install, disabling all services
- Use 1 RAM stick , in every slot, ( bought new RAM )
- defrag
- AV scans (avast)
- ran windows memory/hdd diagnose tests, reported no issue
- crystal disk info reported perfect health HDD
(nothing worked)
I have tried running checkdisk in cmd, however it said that the Volume is in use by another process, tried running it in safemode as well but no use. Tried stopping checkdisk from booting up trough registry, but that didn't help, it still said the volume is in use.
Upon restarting the pc after every freeze, the following line is present in Event Viewer 1-2 seconds before the Critical message - ( https://puu.sh/zaVLJ/4778285003.png ). Which made me think checkdisk could be to blame
