PC Freezing up and audio lags/freezes into buzzing noise

Hi all, so this has been happening a while now and I its incredibly frustrating.

Here is what happens:

The PC freezes up, nothing works including mouse/keyboard. Audio turns into a buzzing noise but if you listening closely you can hear that the audio is still playing its just SUPER slow-mo which makes it sound like buzzing noises. I assume the audio is playing 1 frame at a time or something.

The quick fix is to hard reset the pc with the power button, however if I wait a varying amount of time (can be a few minutes can be less than a minute), it corrects itself and resumes as if nothing happened.

At first I thought it may be a flash player problem as it happens ALOT when watching twitch/youtube etc but lately it has also been happening when playing games with nothing else open in the background. It is much less frequent when playing games compared to when using flash player.

So far I have:

Updated firmware on my SSD - no fix
Uninstalled and reinstalled latest audio drives for my mobo - no fix

Sorry for the wall of text buts its a weird problem and I wanted to be detailed. Thanks in advance for any help offered.

No, im not overclocking anything. The "horrible noises" are not computer noises. It is just the audio thats frozen along with everything else (well the audio goes super super super slow mo like I said, causing those buzzing noises through my headphones or speakers)

Yeah I know what you were talking about lol. That same thing occurs while overclocking if you have any audio playing.

Have you tried updating your video card drivers and checking your system temperatures? Can you please do that with HWMonitor and report the maximum temperatures while gaming for the processor and the graphics card?

Thank you!

GPU = Crossfire 6950HD XFX

-The game I am playing atm is not crossfire - card runs about 75-80c full load.

CPU = i5 2500k

-highest core goes to about 44/45c. Avg is around 41 for all.

Sorry I had to be away on work since my last post. I will go do the checks now and get back to you, I've already done a disk check which was fine just got to do the memory check.

P.S. I noticed my CPU actually managed to reach 60c at one point of longgggggg gaming. Sometimes I get lucky and the PC decides it dont want to freeze (like i said earlier, its much much much more common when watching twitch etc.)

Any follow up on what this problem could be?

I have now ran both my video cards on their own and the same crash occurs with both cards installed solo.

Seems unlikely it could be a hardware error with the GPU's on both of them.

Same here. For me the problem was in RAM, which sometimes cause bluescreens also.
At moment when the audo makes weird nosies, the games or something mostly start to lag (35-20 fps).
