Strange thing in the last 2 weeks i have had this issue with an older game that sometimes i can play for 2-3 hours or sometimes 5 minutes then the pc freezes and either has a grey screen with white vertical lines or a brown screen with white vertical lines and still keeps playing the game music, it only happens with this game atm which it never used to and nothing in the pc is even hitting 60 degrees celcius while playing this game before it happens and it seems random as sometimes i can play for ages sometimes not. games such as fallout 4, battlefield 4, world of warcraft and some others run perfectly fine and this never happens but my old diablo 2 even updated all of a sudden started having this issue with my pc. i've tried un installing and re installing drivers, the game, anti virus programs, disabled msi afterburner and still exact same thing and windows has no event log of what has caused it. strangely enough there was no updates done to gpu, the game or windows or even the anti virus program and this just randomly started happening, pretty sure if the game was corrupted this issue would happen when i enter certain area's if it was corrupted or would be fixed from un-installing then re-installing. i have researched the grey or brown screen and white lines every forum tries to say gpu but if it was the case then battlefield 4, fallout 4 or even world of warcraft would be having the same issue but they're not.

Windows 10 64-bit
Core i7 2600 @ 3.4ghz
ATI radeon HD7750
600w Casecom psu
Gigabyte B75M-D3H Motherboard
12GB Kingston Ram 1333mhz
Samsung 860 evo 500GB SSD

Playing battlefield 4, Fallout 4 or even World of Warcraft the gpu goes upto the 55-58 degrees celcius mark and cpu around 48-56, really don't understand what would be causing this lockup with that screen with only this program. when it happens i have to hold the power button turn the pc off then turn it back on and it starts up fine within seconds it's on the desktop screen again but doesn't have any event log of what happened besides saying the pc was not shutdown properly.

ok maybe fixed it atm, ended up disabling screen optimisation and the game ran alittle longer then still had the grey screen white vertical lines happen but then i went into the diablo 2 folder into the configuration file and found a setting that didn't look right, the file log buffer size was set to 128kb which i ended up going through the text files and found it showing it was trying to auto allocate log buffer sizes as it detected there was not enough. changed this setting to 4096kb and game has run solid and never had the grey or brown screen with vertical lines since shortly after doing this thread. still testing it atm but no freezes, crashes or errors of any type so far... strange though that the log buffer size must have changed somehow and causing this freeze with a screen that usually represents gpu problem. game is even still running now alt tabbing works fine. makes me wonder how many people have gone and bought another gpu when it was actually a small issue like this. does explain why windows was not showing any errors though in event viewer, it was being recorded into a text file where the program that was crashing is installed.
