First off forgive me if there's any spelling errors, I'm on my cell phone. So I was just hanging out with someone on Rabbit while surfing the net and all of a sudden my laptop freezes. It didn't force a restart or have any alerts pop up - I had to manually turn it off by holding down the power button.

I've had this happen before - the tech guy said it was an application error issue and that either Microsoft or Skype had to fix it (at the time I was using Skype regularly). But this time it wasn't even on Skype.

I'm wondering if this is because of a Windows 10 update. Yesterday I had to do a massive update that took forever, and then ANOTHER one right after that. I really don't know what to do. If any of you have any ideas, please let me know. I'm not very good with computers or hardware stuff so if any of you do have an idea or solution, explain it to me like I'm five, honestly.

That error was because you held down the power button.

This is not a problem, but there is a problem.

Your computer froze. That's not good.

Basic solutions are usually to update drivers, that's good advice. Check drivers for chipsets and graphics, but ONLY download from Windows Update or the Manufacturer.

Second, you can do Windows+R, then type mdsched.exe

restart and check for errors. This will allow your computer to check your ram. If the ram is bad, it could have caused the computer functions to halt.

Also try downloading a temperature monitor application such as CPUZ to make sure nothing is overheating.

Good luck.

I did the "mdsched.exe" option - everything seems fine, no problems with the RAM. And nothing is overheating either.

I did however run a troubleshoot on the windows upgrades, and it came up with the following problems:

"Service registration is missing or corrupt" - Fixed
"Potential Windows Update Database Error detected" - Fixed
"Windows Update Components must be repaired" - Fixed
"Check for Pending Updates" - Fixed

It says they've all been fixed by every time I run the Troubleshoot, they reappear and I have to apply the "fixes". I don't know if this may have anything to do with my laptop freezing while using Rabbit's cam chat or not... it seems like the problems started when the big 1703 update was done for Windows 10.
