Hello everyone,

I'm a first time poster so if I've accidently placed this post in the wrong portion of the forums feel free to remove it or migrate it elsewhere if possible.

So, I built my first mini itx gaming pc recently and all has been phenomenal! Until last night when I was watching a simple twitch stream of the csgo esl majors with my friends and my pc just randomly froze for the first time ever and I had to force shut down. Upon attempting to turn it back on my monitor read "no signal" (asus monitor 144hz that is connected to DVI-I of my gtx 970 msi card), my keyboard lights (razer blackwidow chroma + zowie ec1b) do not come on. Screen remains black and no signal message appears. no bios screen. no windows screen.

I thought maybe its overheating, but my room is pretty cold at night and when I woke up in the morning I tried to turn it on again and it did the same thing so that kind of rules out overheating of any sort. I also touched the case the night this happened and it really wasn't hot at all and all the fans were spinning regularly.

The only tweaks I did was set my ram frequency to 3000mhz and its 3200mhz ram. Everything else is normal operation including the cpu. no overclocking of any kind.

I read some other similar posts and did some research and I found that reseating the RAM and/or GPU can solve this, however I have a strong gut feeling that's not going to fix my case so I thought posting about it here could help. I also don't think anything is wrong with my monitor as its only 5-6 months old and shows no signs of dying at all prior to this incident.

Here are my specs and I would GREATLY appreciate any help/insight into this issue:

Motherboard (Mini-ITX): GIGABYTE GA-AB350N-Gaming WIFI (AMD/Ryzen AM4/B350/RGB Fusion/HDMI/DP/M.2/SATA/USB 3.1 Type-A/Wifi/Mini ITX/DDR4 Motherboard)

Ram: G.SKILL 8GB (2 x 4GB) Ripjaws V Series DDR4 PC4-25600 3200MHz for Intel Z170 Platform / Intel X99 Platform Desktop Memory Model F4-3200C16D-8GVKB

SSD: SanDisk SSD PLUS 120GB Solid State Drive - SDSSDA-120G-G27 & I also took out the SSD that came in my Playstation 4 slim and use that as a secondary storage SSD. I installed window 10 on the sandisk though.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 3 2200G Processor with Radeon Vega 8 Graphics

PSU: EVGA 500 B1, 80+ BRONZE 500W Power Supply, 3 Year Warranty, Includes FREE Power On Self Tester 100-B1-0500-KR

Case: Thermaltake Core V1 Black Edition SPCC Mini ITX Cube Computer Chassis CA-1B8-00S1WN-00

GPU: MSI NVIDIA GTX 970 Gaming 4G Graphics Card

tl;dr no signal on monitor after freeze & reboot. mouse/keyboard lights are off. no access to os. all components inside the case are on and running. fans working and everything seems to be working except for aforementioned mouse/keyboard and nosignal on monitor. please help? :(

Nice system you got there. I have the same keyboard too! Ok, try taking all your RAM sticks off and only placing one of the sticks in DRAM slot 0/1 (whichever is the first slot). See if it fixes it. If it boots to Windows, check if you got the latest BIOS, chipset, and all the other drivers needed, aswell as the GPU drivers.

Hey there, thanks for the answer. I ended up taking it to my local IT Technician and he couldn't even find out what was wrong with it! He said he smelled something burning inside and we chopped it up to it being a defective motherboard and returned it to amazon for a new one. Since it was working great for two weeks I think it might be an overheating issue inside the mini itx case so I installed two additional 80mm fans in the back. Noisy but I don't care when I have headphones on and headshoting kids :p
