Hi everyone!

I´m thinking in building something with this:

Motherboard: MSI Z170A Gaming M3
Video card: MSI GTX970 GAMING 4GB
Processor: Intel Core i7-6700 Processor (8M Cache, up to 4.00 GHz)
Power: Cougar Cmx 1000w 80 Plus Bronze
Case: Antec Lanboy

Budget: Between 1k and 2k

Opinions and suggestions will be much appreciated.

Thank you all!

That's a wide budget range. Why the I-7-6700? Is this for more than gaming? The PSU is not good, and good luck finding that case for sale new, unless you already have it. Do you need front panel USB 3.0? How about external bays for an optical drive? Do you need the case lightweight for portable LAN parties? Any particular color scheme?

Well I would personally wait for the release of the GTX 1070 and 1080. The GTX 1070 is going to be about £300 and is much more performance per price than other older cards. If the GTX 1070 has better performance than the GTX Titan X then I would happily wait for a better card for a great price.

Also that PSU is not the best, I would swap that out for an EVGA or Corsair PSU. You also don't need 1000W unless you're going to upgrade a lot in the future...even then it seems like too much power - way more than you really need.

EVGA example:

Corsair example:

Keep the same case, wait for Pascal. The i5 will suffice for gaming.

A very good PSU and case are the foundation for a great build: Pick a tier 1 or tier 2 power supply

Here's one suggested build, based on waiting for the GTX 1080 GPU. You are able to overclock this. I-7 is pretty much overshadowed by the I-5 for gaming. If you plan to do some video editing/rendering and digital photo manipulation, then the I-7 would be useful.

Thanks for all the assistance provided Alan Caldwell, Garilia and VR PC-BUILD. Also RAZER Gamer for the power source suggestion.

I´ve cherry picked ideas from all!

Cheers.

You are welcome.

All the best for the build.
