Is it just me or does it seem like there's alot of game production companies that're screwing PC gamers out of some really awesome games, all for seemingly pathetic reasons. EA's teasing us, saying we might see a Dead Space 2, and Microsoft's saying we all game on tiny screens; "Some games are more suited for the intimacy of the PC, and others are best played from the couch in front of a larger TV screen. We ultimately realised that the most compelling way to experience "Alan Wake" was on the Xbox 360 platform, so we focused on making it an Xbox 360 exclusive. Both Microsoft and Remedy have long histories in PC game development. This decision was about matching this specific game to the right platform." I'm one of the people with an HDCP enabled PC who games on a 42" LED HDTV. And by the way, I do all that from my couch using my wireless keyboard and mouse. Console gamers aren't the only gamers who play from the couch.

Microsoft has pissed me off for the last time. They already diluted the PC gaming market with their introduction of the acurssed StupidBox (Xbox for you console people). This seems to me to just be another example of Microsoft being a big, stupid corporation whose main focus is perpetuating their negative stereotypes (being a big, stupid, monopoly in the PC gaming market). The backbone of their gaming department was built on the success of the PC gaming market and such games as Age of Empires and Flight Simulator.

Any thoughts?

Yes yes we all realize that companies are focusing more on console games. Its because they know how many people say"oh hey, box, plug into tv, sit and play. PERFECT" instead of paying 3x more money and learning which computer parts are better than others and what to buy. Its basically for any non-gamers who just wanna pay for a box (that is really a $90 computer when you realize how truly crappy the parts in the consoles are) and plug it in and play.

The way I see it, you've gotta get a computer anyway, why not save yourself the money you're going to spend (inevitably) on a retarded gaming console, and get a really awesome PC that plays games better, with better graphics and shorter load times (go play Oblivion on a PS3, then go play it on a PC and tell me I'm not right)? When the PS3 came out it was, what, $600.00? Tack on another $200-300 and you've got yourself a very nice midstream gaming platform that also does everything a computer does, except way better b/c you're on suped-up hardware. Don't even get me started on how often one needs to buy a new console to get the latest and greatest. PC gaming has been, is, and always will be the truest form of gaming, at least if you play FPS, MMORPG's, and RTS.

Though, don't get me wrong, I still hate Microsoft.

P.S.

Consoles, being how they are, make me not want to buy them, in part because the feel like the company's really trying to screw the customer on them. Particularly now that a game is $60 and there's little use for the console themselves outside their gaming mindset, despite the implication that the manufacturers today are trying to add more multimedia functionality (though a PC does multimedia FAR better than an Xbox 360 or a PS3 with superior storage space and speed, you can even have a super DVR using a tuner card), and have done some interesting things on the Xbox 360 and PS3 (you'll notice I leave out Wii, any way you try to look at the Wii, it's pretty much for kids and non-gamers). It's really hard to knock something as innovative as the Wii though, despite it's lack of any predisposition to trying to be "next gen", it's still kinda cool, and quirky, and I like that. But with the Xbox vs PS3, i'm not sure. Seems none of the games I've really been looking forward to playing (FF XIII for example) haven't been truly exclusive to either console yet (which I find odd in the case of Square Enix and FFXIII, doubt Square would've pulled that crap selling out like that). Though I think if I was to choose one, i'd get the PS3. Still don't really see the point when my PC plays more games than the library of both of those consoles combined, and if I feel like using a racing wheel, flight sim joystick, a game pad, or an arcade stick, I can do that on my pc. I <3 playing n64 emu.

Modern warfare 2 is not allowed to be mentioned here because they just ported it to pc instead of making an actual pc version. That's why you can see all the people posting problems with the game here. The truth is that a computer is a better investment because it isn't limited to just games. But people assume that a console is easier to game on and is just as good, which obviously not true. Btw, tomshardware on iPod touch ftw 😉

console for kids, lousy graphics and sounds, and computers are for adults that want near realistic looks and sounds, my friend said I needed to see how great the graphics look in ME2 on his console, I laughed at him, the people look like they are plastic

Yup, very durastic differences between their graphics. Plus i think that controls are superior too, on controllers everyone is limited to the same speed but with a mouse, it all depends on how fast you are.

A lot of games you can change the joystick sensitivity for your gamepad. Allowing you to move faster. Greater accuracy is a thing of the past as well. Game pads even support a wide variety of buttons, up too 21 on the xbox controller.(Even if games don't fully utilize them, no more than all PC games use the whole keyboard)
I'm sorry to say, but as a system builder, avid PC gamer, AND an Xbox gamer. The only real headway PC has over consoles nowadays is really just GFX and Mod-ability. (Think Elderscrolls, Fallout...etc)
Since I can swing both ways at it were, I can really see why companies are pushing for more console games. I really can't blame them either, while I still hate that I'm unable to find a game to fully utilize my PCs power.

Well i have solved the problem by generally buying an Xbox 360 and a Pc for another 1300.But truth be told they still found a way to s.... me as well, seeing how they made Uncharted for PS3 only.it's an endless parade of bull.... They could as easly make the games PS3 XBOX and PC.But oh well still some great games do populate the pc it's a pitty Gears of war 2 is for xBox for instance. If i had a mouse there i'd actually be able to look around how hard is it really playing a shooter on an Xbox ? Damn near impossible

You do know that consoles work with other input devices as well right?

I use my Logitech DFP wheel on GT5P on the PS3 and then take it upstairs for some proper sim racing on GTR2 on my PC. Any number of keyboards work on the PS3 - I presume the same is true for the x360 - but I don't have one so I wouldn't know.

There is a real role for consoles in the living room. My PS3 is a small, efficient, quiet and competent media streamer (compared to a PC) - it playes movies from my media server, gives me rapid access to my music, i-player is extremely useful for catching up on missed TV, the image browser is a great way to show photos off - oh and some of it's games are pretty good. As a social machine it beats my PC(s) hands down - I had a group of friends over yesterday playing TV Game Show King - silly, fun and extrememly sociable. No-one suggested firing up the PC behind the TV to play something more hardcore.

Having said that, it's not all roses - the fact I even have a PC hidden behind my TV is because of the crappy codec support on the PS3 for films. And it doesn't like the internet radio station I play the most often.

I'll always want to game on the PC though. If I want to think, be challenged and interact properly online, PC is the only way to go. Consoles will never have a MMOG like EVE, or strategy games that take time and are truely taxing. MW2 was my first experience of FPS on a console and I have to say I don't think I missed much, autoaim is pretty crap really. I still rate the GT series as the best balance of sim vs playability of any racing game and they will always be welcome on the PS3. Games such as the SSX series I can't really imagine on the PC, so they have a home there too.

I hope developers come to understand that the PC and console markets are very different and cater for them. I hope as PC owners, we continue to support there efforts by creating a market of buyers out there that continue to make PC game development worthwhile. It is down to the consumer eventually. If no-one buys great PC games, developers will stop making them.

how about that GTA IV ? modded for pc use, so if u wanna play at high ress it is recomended u have 12 core CPU, 4-way 295 SLI or 4-way 5870 Crossfire, 20 GB DDR5 RAM etc.

as I see this situation: the gaming market got very big, there are a lot of manufacturers releasing new games on a daily basis. also, the number of console users increases dramaticly, simply cause they make u buy Xbox or PS3 just so that u can play some new hot title. that makes even more money for them, as xbox is microsoft, ps3 sony, etc... they only look at what will generate more money, and not that ridiculous "Some games are more suited for the intimacy of the PC, and others are best played from the couch in front of a larger TV screen" *** of excuse.

Well, all bitterness aside, I didn't read the whole thread but I get the gist of it.

Excuse me words in **'s.

F**k EA Games.

F**k Microshaft.

I played Xbox 360 ONLY because I had an 8 year old rig that could play Age of Empires 2, and that's on a good day.

Now I have a top of the line rig w/ a 5970, and damn I always had some idea of what I was missing, but not until I threw in Crysis and played that on max at 1080p w/ 60 frames did I almost have a heart attack.

PC gaming is just so much more advanced than anything that the Xbox 360 has the offer. I used to think the 360 graphics are good, but they are just so..., err Everyquest 2 like. Plasticy, plastered look.

There haven't been that many games that aren't on the PC that I have wanted to play recently. Final Fantasy 13, why not PC!!! arghh, i'll be picking that one up for the 360.

There may be a lot more, I just haven't kept up with 360 games at all lately. So wait, Alan Wake ISN'T coming to the PC? I thought it was!

That game looked like it had great graphics, and now we have to play it on Ultra Low settings on the 360. Sad, with a game that looks that good they'd be idiotic not to at least copy and paste it to the PC.

The idiocy of the typical populace of Xbox Live is pitiful. I grew tired and old quickly listening to a bunch of raving loony tunes and having my eardrums damaged from a 3-year old kid screeching into the microphone on a Mature rated game. Parents these days! (that's a new one)

Hahaha exactly, and everyone says "no one plays computer!" but then a good response would be "how many people on xbx live are older than 12?" Its hilarious how pathetic XBL has gotten, no longer is it a good way to play online, but a flame war of 10 year-olds playing CoD all day.
