(PC Gaming) Can this build work?

Hi, I was wondering if the following specs could be a successful build for me to use in pc gaming.

Video Card:EVGA GeForce Video Card:8400 GS 1 GB DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 DVI/HDMI/VGA Graphics Card, 01G-P3-1302-LR

Processor:AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core 5600+ 2.8 GHz Processor, Socket AM2

RAM (4gb):Corsair XMS3 4 GB 1333MHz PC3-10666 240-pin DDR3 Memory Kit for Intel Core i3 i5 i7 and AMD CMX4GX3M1A1333C9

Motherboard:GIGABYTE AM3+ NVIDIA GeForce 7025/nForce 630a Chipset DDR3 1600 Micro ATX AMD Motherboard GA-M68MT-S2

Operating System:Windows XP Home Premium

I want to know if I will be able to use this as a successful working gaming pc. I want to run games like Skyrim. Please tell me if this will work out right. If you need anymore information for my build, please ask me. Thanks!

No the CPU will not work in that motherboard and the graphics card is ancient.

Afraid not, it's not very well optimised and simon12 is correct in saying that GPU is ancient! You can build a budget system based around the Pentium G620 CPU with an AMD 6850 which should be able to play Skyrim on max settings at 1080p.

as diellur mentioned, you can easily build a very capable computer for around 600 USD.

I guess I want the build as cheap as possible. 300 USD at minimum

So if I replaced my processor and video card by your reccomendation, will it be an ok for me to use?

Do you mean 300 USD maximum? Most people set a maximum budget 🙂

And obviously the processor diellur recommended will need a different motherboard. MSI (Microstar) are exceptionally reliable, as are Gigabyte and Asus are a good bet also.

Keep in mind you'd be getting a modern DX11 card with a 6850, but Windows XP is restricted to DX9. XP also won't properly address 4GB RAM (officially 4GB is the limit, but in my experience, XP always sticks at 2.75GB) and lacks TRIM support. TRIM isn't needed for hard disks, but if you ever decided to upgrade to SSD (assuming you don't already use one), write performance will steadily degrade over time.

Windows 7 will give you DX11, TRIM and addresses up to 16GB RAM (assuming the 64-bit version).

I suggest you look at a pentium g series CPU 4gb RAM in a 2 x 2Gb kit a cheap motherboard and the best GPU you can afford with whats left

Obviously, my planned build would have turned out catastrophic. Thank you everyone for telling me. I will probably buy a gaming pc instead of building one, even though it may come out pricey.
