PC goes into boot loop with 2nd RAM stick

My PC will boot and be fully functional with a single stick of Corsair XMS3 4gb RAM but when I try to add a 2nd stick it goes into the Windows Automatic Repair loop. I tried updating the bios but that unfortunately did not work.

Specs
MSI 970 gaming motherboard
AMD fx6300 cpu
Corsair XMS3 RAM
MSI gtx 750

remove second stick, go into bios, change voltage to 1.55-1.6v and add the second stick. This is why they sell them in kits of 2-4 sticks so they'll work together not all memory plays nice together.
