Looking for a thread or help on using 2 different OS on the same PC. Put a SSD into a new PC and can't get it to start from BIOS selection.
I get a blue screen saying it's repairing but then it just boots up the other SSD with Windows 11.

Geekom mini it13
lexar NM7A1 2tb Windows 11Pro
Samsung 840 1tb Windows 8.1
intel i9 13900H 2.6ghz

Not sure how to ask the right question on running 2 different OS on the computer.
I have 2 SSD ports and the system came with the Lexar and Windows 11Pro.
I plugged my old Samsung with WIndows 8.1 into the other port.
It shows both disks and info
I tried to boot the Samsung 840 during startup using the bios and it doesnt boot. Windows 11 boots
Is there a thread that shows how to run both systems on the same computer?
I have a couple programs I want to run from the old windows 8.1 that won't run on 11Pro.

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

You can try and install the app's you speak of in compatibility mode, i.e, Right click installer>Properties>Compatibility tab>Windows X(from the drop down menu).

If I'm reading this correctly, the Samsung 840 had a Win 8.1 OS from a different system?
And now, you're putting it in this new system?
And it won't boot?

That is pretty typical.

Moving a drive+OS install to a different system often fails.
Thanks, i read a little bit about partioning and want to find out if that will work.

Thanks, I tried that and its a no go.
I read about partitions and thought it may work.

Isn't Geekom one of those companies where you have to download their own custom version of Windows for their custom motherboard design. Maybe the Geekom website has some info on how to get Windows 8.1 to work on their motherboard. But I looked there and all of their support files specify Window 10 or 11. Maybe if you try a fresh install of 8.1 that might work.
