Well usually when i play games, my GPU temp reaches only up to 60C. But after changing some of my components, it now reaches 85C. Dunno why. Pls help.
My old pc specs:
GA H110M-DS2
Intel Pentium G4560
12 GB RAM (DDR4) (1x4 and 1x8)
and a 1050 TI

My new specs:
Asus Aspire TC-605 Desktop PC
Intel Core i5 4440
16 GB RAM (DDR3) (2x8)
and same 1050 TI
(I don't know if this is an upgrade or a downgrade)

Solution
Hey there,

Yes, you are correct, it's not an upgrade really, or a downgrade either. More like a sidegrade 😉

The increase in temps could be from the newer case. The case might not have good airflow. It may also be that the fans on the GPU aren't working correctly. Although 85c isn't crazy high, and most GPU's can run at those temps pretty fine.

Aside from the temps, both systems would perform pretty closely to each other.

Why did you change?
If your use is multithreaded apps, then the 4440 is an upgrade.
But, for gaming, the single thread performance is a downgrade since games depend on single thread performance.

What is your cpu temperature at idle?
Normally, I would expect to see 10-15c. over ambient.
Much higher and your cooler should be remounted.

Your case is not a great one for cooling airflow.
Take the case covers off and see if it makes a difference.
If cooling is significantly better, look to case cooling solutions which will be limited.
Most likely, use a stronger exhaust fan.

Side grade is how I would describe it. I run a i5 4570 and my wife a g4560 if my memory serves me correctly both paired with a GTX 1050 2gb. As far as I’m concerned if one of us can’t run a game the other can’t either.

My 4570 on an aftermarket heatsink runs a little hotter than my wife g4560 on stock cooling. So check your CPU temps to make sure it looks good. And follow Geofelts advice on checking idle temps, seated corrected, etc.

I remember my wife’s CPU ran 10 degrees Celsius over ambient while stress testing. Mine did not, and I have mine in an Antec 900 case, aftermarket heatsink, better thermal paste, etc (still cool by cpu standards though). I mention this because your case might be the limiting factor if your using stock cooling on the CPU as it’s throwing out more heat in all directions from my limited closely related experience. A quick swap to a tower heatsink to exhaust the heat out of the back of the case may be something to consider to help alleviate this if you find this to be the issue.
