Need some help here,my pc is a relatively old pc (i3 8100,r9 290x) but still runs ok in latest games. Its been 5 years and still going strong.

Or atleast,I thought it was..

When I was playing Apex Legends,my pc immediately shuts down along with my router thats connected to my power brick.I opened up my pc and touched my gpu and psu and it was really hot.

Quickly turned off all electronics and see if my router was still fine.Luckily,it was running fine when i unplugged my pc.

I set my pc beside an external fan and cleaned some dust out to try to reboot again.Plugged the power cable and it happened again.

The same exact thing happened again.

BEFORE THIS,my pc was making a buzzing sound while plugging it in and turning the psu on.

I have heard that it was my psu,if so,Im willing to replace it for a new one.

And for you people that is saying that I should check and hook my pc up to a new psu,I dont have one laying around.

Any help would be really appreciated!

My psu is a cooler master 550w

Solution
Since power related, I'd firstly rule out the power supply, like you intended too. Try buying and testing one that you can return in case the issue is still there.
