So I wanted to change my theme in my pc from red to green. I ordered new leds, fans with leds, and custom cable mods (were black cables before). I installed everything only to see no post. After doing some diagnostics, I learned that the cable mod cable for the motherboard plug didn't work. So after talking with cable mod, they told me I got the wrong kit for my psu, so my bad. So now I just decided to stick with what I got and go to black cables like before. I will get the green cables later. The pc boots but it is thermal throttling. I have an i7-7700K with a corsair h100i water cooler that is about 1.5 years old. So I took off the block and see there is hardly any thermal paste as it looks more like metal on metal. So I replaced the thermal paste and I am still thermal throddling. So now I am thinking either the pump is bad or the cpu is bad. I know the cpu rarely fails, so I am going to test the pump first. Now I am not overclocking the cpu yet. So I was thinking I will get the Cooler Master Hyper 212 evo at my local best buy to test if it is the pump. Then if the pump is bad, I will wait until I get some more money to get a new h100i. So my question is, can I use the same back plate that the h100i came with for putting in the 212 evo? I want to do the simplest thing first. Let me know if you need anymore information as I can add it in. Thanks.
