Computer is lagging randomly in games. I have a Intel Core i7-6700k CPU and a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980Ti as my GPU. I monitored my CPU and GPU usage and during the lag spikes the usage, the temperature, the load percentages all don't change. The temperatures are all well below hot (CPU is at 60 max and GPU is at 65-70), and the loads for CPU and GPU are all always below 30%. My ram's load is always below 50% I've restarted my computer and I've tried playing the games without anything running but it still has random lag spikes.

I've re-seated my ram and dusted off my entire set-up. I've reinstalled Nvidia's drivers and I've set my power usage to prefer performance. I've installed nothing new previous to the lag (the lag started randomly during the middle of usage) and I've changed no settings previous either.

This problems happens in every game (even in games that aren't heavy on the graphics or cpu ie WC3 or osu! or LoL). There isn't a pattern to when it happens either as it may take less than a minute in game or 5 or so.

I've also checked malwarebytes to scan and nothing comes up. I ran CCleaner and nothing changed. I ran windows defender scans and nothing changed. I also ran the defragmentation process and it changed nothing. I deleted some programs that took a lot of space to see if freeing my 2 ssd's would change anything but it did not (I have over 110gb of space in one 500 gb ssd and over 208 gb of space in the other).

Problem started in the middle of a gaming session so I don't know what could've caused this. Any ideas on fixes?

Video Showcaing the problem The lag spike hits around 11 seconds in.

Here is my DxDiag

Here is my MSInfo

My power settings were indeed set to put my hard drive to sleep after 20 minutes but after I changed the setting to never the problem still isn't gone. Nothing seems to have changed.

Update: In one game (osu!) you can see the frame time information. Though during the lagspikes in that game the graph shows that Swap Buffer spikes at the same time the Time between frames spike (I see this consistently when it lags after checking different lag spike). But again the CPU and GPU are still unaffected during the lag spikes.

I've yet to find a solution. I've reset windows and the lag is still there. I've reseated my ram and reapplied my thermal paste. The lag still hits me. I've done a complete reinstall using DDU of my graphics drivers and I still get the lag.

It lags in every game. IT doesn't matter how intensive teh games are. I run the division on ultra and get stable fps until the massive drop or I can be playing warcraft 3 and still lag. It doesn't matter what settings i turn on and off either with v sync etc.
