I have a Dell Inspiron 570 which is pretty old and one day I hit the power button and nothing. If I remove the ATX Power connector from the mobo and test the PSU, it comes on by plugging in the jumper. If I plug it back into the mobo, I hit the power button and the fans dont even flicker. My guess is that something on the motherboard has gone bad, but I wanted to make sure from others that it isnt something else. I would think if its the PSU, it either wouldnt come on, or it would atleast blip the fans when I hit the power button. I would also think that if it were cpu or ram, the fans would come on but it wouldnt POST. Any ideas?

Solution
locate the two pins that the power button wires are connected to on the mobo and short them (make an electrical connection between the two pins) manually (with a screwdriver). Maybe the power button broke.
