PC keeps crashing, mobo manual says something about an integrated GPU which I don't have.

New computer keeps crashing during games. I just suddnly get the blue screen with a sad smiley face without any warning. Only happens during games, I have no problems whatsoever just browsing internet or watching videos or whatever. Games I have played include Overwatch and WItcher 3. On my motherboard, the GPU warning led stays lit, and according to my motherboard manual "This led indicates the CPU's iGPU is not defected and needs to install a graphics card." I have a Ryzen 5 1600 that doesn't have an integrated GPU (I assume that's what iGPU means) and a GTX 1060 as my graphics card. What should I do? PC works fine otherwise, just crashes every 5-30 minutes while playing games.

You will have to start monitoring temps and voltages.

The GPU light is not relevant because, as you said, the Ryzen didn't come from the factory with a GPU. I believe that LED being lit is "normal".

i would check temp also did you install the driver for the gpu and not for a apu .

Checked my temps, CPU is around 50 degrees celsius, motherboard is around 30 and gpu is around 40. I have never done this before so I don't know if they are normal.

I installed the newest gpu drivers from geforce experience, gpu also came with a disc that includes drivers, gigabyte xtreme engine, geforce experience(already dowloaded that from their site), google utilities, and directx 9.0c runtime libraries. Should I also install that disc, it sounds kinda redundant since I already installed the drivers and experience from another source?

I checked some of the error codes on the blue screens and it seems like the problem is with my ram, not the graphics card. However, I ran the Windows memory diagnostic but it didn't find any problems. My motherboard is the MSI Tomahawk b350 and RAM is 2x4gb Team Dark Pro 3000 mHz, do you know if there are any compability issues with these two? The ram is automatically downclocked to 2133 mHz so I think there might be some.

50C, if that is an idling temp is too hot.

It is the idle value. I'm using the stock Wraith cooler and have not done any overclocking. Should I go and buy some better cooler?

The stock cooler is supposed to be pretty good (I haven't bought my Ryzen yet). I would recommend you get new thermal compound and clean everything up and redo your installation.

I used the pre-applied thermal paste but luckily bought some extra paste in case anything like this happens. Is it absolutely necessary to use alcohol to clean off the previous paste? I dont have any right now and it would be a pain to go and buy it.

IMO, yes you need to clean both the cooler and the CPU.

I removed the cooler and reapplied the paste, now my computer doesn't even boot. When I press the power button, the fans start spinning and the leds are lit but nothing happens. First the RAM warning led lights up, then it goes out and the boot led lights up. During the heatsink removal process, the paste had glued the cpu onto the heatsink and ripped out of the socket with the fan. I checked the pins and the socket, but there was no visible damage, no pins were broken or bent. What do I do to get my pc to boot again?

Never mind, I just plugged my hdmi cable to the wrong place haha. Computer works fine but cpu temps didn't go down a bit. Could it be possible I just applied the paste wrong or is there sonething wrong with the cpu or the cooler?

EDIT: After a while, my temp went from ~45C to 31C when idling and around 40 while playing Witcher. I guess the heat helped the paste to form a seal between my heatsink and processor. Are these temps okay?

31 idle is pretty good. Much better than your 50 before.

Thanks for your help! I'm still getting some crashes while playing so I'm pretty sure the problem is my ram memory, not the cpu. Hopefully the BIOS update on the 31st will fix them.
