Hey guys,
My PC is freezing very often, everything on the screen just stops moving except the mouse and the loading circle on the mouse. I have to force restart the PC because nothing else will happen (tried keeping it like that for 10-15mins).
I'm playing video games and using the GeForce Experience feature called Nvidia Shadowplay/Instant replay to save my gameplay and the PC started to freeze after an Nvidia update while I was trying to save my gameplay. The PC would just freeze and I had to force restart to get back on it.
Since then, I have tried many things to fix that problem that is no longer only affecting me when I play but is also happening on Windows.
Here are some of the steps I took to try and understand what was the problem:
GeForce Experience is uninstalled. I can no longer record my gameplay but the problem still persists.
Nvidia HD audio/ Nvidia 3d are not installed. I only installed my video card drivers and physx.
Video drivers reinstalled normally and with DDU. I installed the latest drivers but also the ones from August 2017 and in both cases the problem still persists.
SFC /SCANNOW no error
right click on hard drive - tools - scan drive for errors. I found errors and they have been fixed.
all my Intel drivers are up to date and not corrupted (According to intel driver and support assistant)
My SSD status is GOOD (according to Speccy and DiskCheckup)
My temps are great and I recently changed the thermal paste on my CPU and GPU. There is no dust and the airflow is good.
Windows is up to date.
I do not find any problem on event viewer or reliability history except that the last shutdown was unexpected. (Since I have to force restart)
Changed the SATA cable and the SATA port on the motherboard.
I did other things also but that's all I remember right now.
Here is my config:
Gigabyte H97-HD3
Microsoft Windows 10 Pro (64-bit)
Intel® Core™ i5-4460 CPU @ 3.20GHz
Chipset Intel® 9 Series Chipset Family
MSI NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 Millenium Edition 2GB
Samsung SSD 850 EVO 120GB
Crucial DDR3 1600Mhz 2x8GB
I have no idea what else can I do to just understand where this problem come from...
Do you guys have any troubleshootings tips to help me figure out what is the problem?
Thank you,
