Its kind of difficult to explain but basically I had left something on the power button during the day in a way that it was constantly turning my computer on and off again and now I am experiencing random crashing of my PC. It has about once every two hours but sometimes even quicker.
Any ideas on if the button thing is the cause of the problem or how to fix it?

So, what did you leave on the power button? Glue? Trying to power the system multiple times and powering it off without rhyme or reason can corrupt your OS, not the hardware, mind you. I'm assuming you're talking about the case's front panel power connector and not the rear power button on the PSU. See if with the front panel power button wiring disconnected from the board, you can power the system up with a screw driver.

Make and model of the case and the motherboard as well as the PSU? On second thoughts, please include your system's specs like so:
CPU:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Case:
OS:

I'm not sure about the model of the case, but even the slightest touch of the power button messes with it
