A few days ago my older PC that i lent to my family keeps shutting down randomly. Rarely it'll stay running for an hour or two, but most often it shuts down shortly after starting up. I thought it was maybe a start up program. But seeing the inconsistency, sometimes it stays on for a while before crapping itself, im thinking its hardware. Thinking the PSU possibly? Could maybe be the boot drive? Not sure. Any help is appreciated.

i7-8700k
16GB DDR4
Gigabyte Z77-DS3H
MSI GTX 1080
PSU CX 600

No, just shuts down. Monitor goes black, no error, no bsod, nothing. Then it boots back up by itself, its pretty much just constantly restarting.
Ok, so then this is a hard shutdown where it immediately loose power?

How old are your PSU ?

Bw found a thread from 2015 where it seems that this models get mixed review:

Yes, hard shutdown where it just loses power.

Sorry, its actually a Thermaltake 600W, and it is around 6 years old now?

Ok. But anyways, I think the only way to confirm whether it is the CPU that is bad or not is to actually replace it and observe if the issue will come back.

Do you remember if there was other issues to the same computer, and if so - have those issues changed/evolved to the worse lately ?
