Hi guys, Im new. I was rcomended to come here for help solving a problem by a friend after not being able to figure it out themselves.

A few weeks ago my PC's old PSU blown, fan went on it. I recently got my PC seen to by someone in order to get all my components checked out. Everything was fine, I just needed thermal paste applied and my PSU replaced.

I paid the the guy for the part and the installation of it, as well as a general clean up.

My PC has been working for the first couple of days, but ever since it has been randomly cutting out on me.

The PSU is brand new, it's not overheating and I have put the PC through several stress tests which all have been successful, the PC did not shut down through them. It seems the shuting down is toally random. It will start up, be on for about 2-5 mins, then cuts out. No blue screen, no error messages.

At other times it will not shut down at all and runs for hours without a problem, even when gaming. Yet at other times I only have to be on for a couple of seconds, the PC literally starting up, and it will shut down. It takes several minuits or longer for me to get it back on most of the time, I have to toggle the power switch at the back several times to do this as well as multiple presses of the power button.

Im not sure what's up. My friend thinks the PSU is that has been installed is a bad one and could be the culprit.

Other parts have been checked, no capacitors blown or anything like that.

This is the new PSU

Thanks.

Yeah my friend said that. Its annoying since I asked the guy to buy a reliable one and he said it was because the always worked for him. Sincere enough guy mind.

I'm from England.

Is there one I could get for a lower price? I was told that I could get a reliable in the £35 range. I'v looked into the list recomendations on this site.

Im on a budget, so looking for the best PSU for the best price.

That is the best one for the price.

You only get garbage for £35, you get what you pay for really.

Yeah I'v heard that. I actually told that to the guy who was fixing my PC and that I'd pay for an expensive part, but he told me that was "bs" and installed the one he did. Others I have spoken to say that it's not bs (which I trust, seems common sense to me), but that one can get a decent PSU for £35-45 and the one I had installed was simply overpriced for what it was. Hence my confusion.

I looked again, everything less than that is garbage over there, looked between 500W and 550W.

Thanks for the check up. Ill go for the recommendation then.

Things seem to cost slightly more over there than here in the US.
