Pc keeps switching from HDMI to DVI after sleep

Ok I just reformatted my pc and since then my computer will switch to DVI from HDMI after sleep mode, also it when I turn it on, it will boot in HDMI then change to DVI when windows loads and I have to change it manually. When in DVI, all I have is my wallpaper, no short cuts, toolbar or anything. I tried to mess with the monitor settings, but when you open the monitor menu you cant use mouse on it at all. The menu window overlaps the mouse and can't select what I want with the buttons on the monitor itself. My monitor is a Asus VS247H-P 23.6-Inch Full-HD LED-Lit LCD Monitor if it helps any

use the monitor setting to set HDMI manually or choose auto-select under the monitor menu.
dont bother using your mouse to click the monitor settings - it will never work.
just navigate using the monitor buttons and click manually.

Yeah but I can't seem to find an option to select with the buttons on monitor. Can't find anyway to open HDMI drop down menu. Used every button option

Yes I've been through them options. See the thing is, is that when I go into to the input category it brings up DVI, VGA and HDMI options and all three has an arrow for other options. There is no way for me to open the drop down options for HDMI. Never had a problem like this, I'm not all that computer illiterate, but I'm also no expert either. I'm usually ok with figuring these things out, but this one's getting on my nerves lol
