PC kept crashing after installing graphics card - even worse after BIOS update!

Yesterday I installed a new graphics card (GTX 1050 Ti 4GB) so I would be able to power a 4K display. As a result, my computer kept crashing ('pink screen' with IRQL GT ZERO AT SYSTEM SERVICE message) after using it for about half an hour.

I decided to update the BIOS (UEFI dual BIOS gigabyte) to F7, as I only had the F3 version, and I loaded the default settings. Now the computer crashes with the same error message shortly after displaying the Windows start screen. It has basically become unusable, and is stuck in a continuous start / crash / restart loop.

Motherboard: F2A55M-DS2
CPU: AMD A5400 (if I remember correctly)
Memory: Corsair Vengeance 16GB 1866MHZ
OS: Window 10 x64

Any ideas how to fix this and make the computer usable again?

Do the symptoms change if you put the old card back in

I'm guessing that you had no GPU previously and used the AMD(radeon) integrated on the cpu. So the question is whether you removed the AMD drivers completely before installing the new GPU.

I set my on-board graphics chip as the primary display device, and the computer still crashed seconds after displaying the log on screen for Windows (but with a BSOD on my old VGA monitor nstead of a 'pink screen of death' that I was getting on the new one). So I just completely removed the PCI-E card, but the computer still crashes with the same error message.

Yes I was using the on-board Radeon chip, but I didn't uninstall the drivers for it.

So you now have 2 sets of video drivers???
I' d boot into safe mode, and completely remove ALL the video drivers Use DDU from here:
http://www.wagnardmobile.com/

Then reboot.
it should boot up with a generic driver. Turn system off
Install new GPU and power on and install Nvidia driver.

I just ran DDU from Safe Mode using the 'Clean and Restart' option. It gave me an error message ('This app can't open. Get Started can't be opened using the Built-in Administrator account. Sign in with a different account and try again') but eventually it restarted automatically. Unfortunately, the computer still crashes about one or two seconds after displaying the log in screen.

I just checked the Device Manager, and DDU seems to have been successful, as the only display driver was 'Microsoft Basic Display Adapter'. I removed that, but after restarting the computer still crashes.

Well, I seem to have accidentally stumbled across the solution myself. I had a look at the device manager, and I noticed that there were two audio drivers (Realtek & standard), so I disabled them both. After I rebooted the computer the first time it still crashed, but after the next reboot everything seemed fine and I restarted it a few more times to make sure that it was stable. I was able to install the DirectX and the Nvidia drivers without any problems, and now it seems that everything is up and running.

I'll need to leave the computer on overnight to make sure that everything is OK now, but I've got the feeling that it must have been one of the audio drivers which caused all those problems. I remembered that I've got an external Focusrite audio adapter from my previous PC, so I don't really the need onboard audio.

Pretty pleased with myself, considering that I don't consider myself to be a 'geek'!
