Hey community.
So my laptop's screen recently stopped working, but in a wierd way, the pc itself boots up, i hear all the sounds and i can shutdown the pc again using CMD, but the monitor dosent show anything.
But when i plug in my external screen, and restarts the pc, or boot it up from scratch, it will start booting on the external, showing the windows logo, and when it's time for my desktop to show up ,it does it on my laptops screen, making the whole thing work perfectly again.
Any thoughts on how i can make my pc boot up without it requireing to be connected to an external screen?

Hello Jeppe Helbo

It's sounds like that your laptop may be set in "Second Screen Only" by default. Don't worry. This is a very easy fix.

Firstly, hook your laptop up to your external display and boot into Windows like you would do normally.

Secondly, on your keyboard, hold down the Start Button + P at the same time. The below should then pop up.

If your on Windows 7 or below then it will look a bit different.

Then select, "PC Screen Only" , Restart your PC & all should be working.

Hope this helped! :)

Okay so I tried that yesterday evening, and it worked fine the first time I restarted my pc, so I shut I down during the night, and now it won't even show anything on either screen when I boot up again.

If your on Windows 7 you can do this again without needing to log in. Just do what I said above while the screens off and it'll still work. Use the arrows on your keyboard to navigate left and right when the screens off. (Usually Start + P and then arrow right once puts it in PC Screen Only or duplicate)

If your on Windows 8 then your kinda stuffed & you may have a driver or display problem either way.
