pc & laptopn won,t connect , wired orwifi - adapter error

Briefly, it's late

OK been having probs with wifi but on new router now, ipjhones & pad connnected

my laptop & our PC show internet but i cannot establish connection.

Both are reporting problems with an adapter, wifi one - tried updating driver but it won,t install saying poss corruption. Both went before new router, still down with!
during recent probs I was logging in and messing with router - in response to advice, I was doing this from laptop as admin.
My laptop went down very close to update & install of wind 8 browser...I use chrome but need IE to keep Microsoft platform
PC was error report about THC/I (sorry not accurate spelling) saying it wasn,t enabled for that connection.

Running XP , Chrome

I haven't used XP for a long time, this may work, may not. Open the CMD, you may have to go into Run and then type cmd and hit enter, once that opens type ipconfig /release, hit enter and then type ipconfig /renew.

If that fails try this VVVVVV

If you have another pc or laptop that can connect to the internet download the LAN drivers for the motherboards and put the files on a USB, then load the LAN driver installation file on the computer that can't connect.
