PC-Less Mass Storage

Are there Hard Drives or other mass storage devices that can be used without a PC? The application I have in mind is my digital camera. When I'm on a long vacation I'd like to be able to upload my pictures to some relatively cheap mass storage device (i.e via USB) without having to lug a laptop along. Buying a bucketful of Memory Sticks is just too expensive. 🙂
