PC locking up

My computer keeps locking up at random (I can go a week without it happening, or several times in a day). When I mean lock up, I mean the mouse doesn't move, and Task manager doesn't/can't open up as well and I end up having to hit reset.

Some trouble shooting I have already done. I sent back the SSD and got a new one which rule that out. My RAM tested out fine using Mem test. Now when I attempt a GPU test with OCCT it has twice locked up during it, but no errors found before hand.

Instead of doing a third test I figured I would ask here first and see if anybody thinks it might be my Graphics card that is causing the lock up, or if it might be something else.

Ultra LSP Series V2 650-Watt Power Supply
AMD FX-8310 Processor - 8-Core, 3.4GHz, 8MB L2 Cache
MSI 970A-G46 AMD 9 Series Motherboard -
MSI AMD RADEON R7 265 2GD5 ARMOR OC Graphics Card - 2GB GDDR5, 256-bit,
Kingston Digital 120GB SSDNow V300 SATA 3 *Windows drive
Kingston HyperX FURY 16GB Kit (2x8GB) 1866MHz
Toshiba 3.5-Inch 2TB 7200 RPM SATA3/SATA 6.0 GB/s 64MB *secondary drive

Sorry should have done that in the first place.

Since it locked up with two test trys I would focus on the gpu at the moment. Go to the AMD site and see if there are updated drivers for this card and download/install them. Have you received any error messages? You can also check the device manager to see if there are any issues with the card.

According to the AMD catalyst I have the most current drivers, and for the Device Manager what would I be looking for? I see its labeled AMD Radeon R7 200 series and when looking into its properties it says its working properly.

ps. I wont get home until 5:00PM Central time from work.

I did a third test before I left for work. It got about 4-5 hours before locking up. Any other ideas? Does overheating cause lock up like that? I thought if a comp overheats it usually shuts down.

The temperatures that you are seeing are high. The heat may very well be the issues with the lockups. You need to get your CPU temp down to around 38-40C. The lasting 4-5 hours is accurate if the temps are getting that high.
