PC lockups, think it could be motherboard related?

For the past 3 days, my PC has been locking up and emitting a loud buzzing sound through the speakers as the sound that was playing gets stuck. There are a few things pointing me towards the motherboard, one being that it's the oldest component in my system alongside the processor and that everything USB related stops functioning correctly when the PC locks up. For example, the caps lock, num lock and scroll lock lights on my keyboard go off and the mouse doesn't change colour upon DPI change like it should.

Does this sound like the motherboard? Also is there anything I can do to check? Will run a memtest when I have the time a bit later to see if it's ram related. Cheers.

[strike]And how did you come to the conclusion I have a rubbish 300w PSU?[/strike] I have a 520W 80+ Bronze Seasonic S12ii.

EDIT: just seen I haven't updated my sig in ages, my bad, I'll change it.

I've got some free time today so I'll do a ram test and see what that brings up. Just don't want it to be something like the GPU. Only bought it this year and don't want to replace it.
