Hello all, encountering an issue with my "console" style pc media centre I keep in my front room.
The system is:
G3258 @4.2
H100 CPU AIO @50'c 100% Load
8GB 1600 Corsair Vengeance RAM - preset to 1333 by Mobo
H81M-P33 Motherboard
EVGA 650W PSU
EVGA GTX 780 SC 3GB - Idles at 30 and 60 under load
WIndows 10
The issue I am having is related entirely to launching games.
Originally the idea of this PC was to run couch "console" games, like Dank Souls 3 or Skyrim SE etc
Controller based games, user friendly, maybe a few RPG's to eat some time and are casual and easy to run.
The PC also doubles up as a guest/Family PC if we need to share videos/photos on the 39" Screen.
So I installed "Dark" souls 3 and it ran fine, did the first time set-up, got into the menu systems, in game to make my character, but once I finalise it and load "into" the game to actually play, I lose signal to my TV (LC-39G12F) Bush 39" HDTV.
I am connected by DVI-D to the HDMI 1 port on the TV and everything else works fine. it just won't display a fully loaded game on it, when the PC was being built and tested, I was running PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds on my ASUS 23.6" Monitor and experienced no signal loss with the exact same cable/connection settings.
I considered it to be a driver fault, but Nvidia CP is recognising it as the make and model whereas the Intel CP isn't.
So I tried Skyrim SE, same thing, I can load into it fine, hit the first "cutscene" but once I am in control instant loss of signal.
I also tried Diablo 3 - a much lighter game, this loaded into the game fine, was even able to play for 10s or so before the signal went.
Games were tested in Fullscreen and windowed Mode.
Anyone have any ideas on what the problem may be?
I will be trying new cables tomorrow when I can get my hands on some - wondering if HDMI - HDMI might solve it as it could potentially be a sound driver issue. (cant use the HDMI on 780 atm, case has a small lip that stops my current cables from fitting)
it seems strange that i have full functionality of the PC, other than when a game loads me past the start menu
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
EDIT: I dropped this into another Rig with a much lower power consumption (No LED shennanigans, Fan controllers, lower draw on the CPU and Cooler)
i5-760@2.8
Hyper Evo212 CPU Cooler
M81 Mobo(super old style)
750W Powercool PSU
8GB Corsair XMS3 RAM
with a 750W PSU and the card runs fine again, is my Power Supply the culprit, maybe not enough Ampage on 12v rail?
or perhaps Ive got more power going out and cannot fully power the card when its needed?
I put my old Gainward 770 in the small pc and it works fine...strange. Don't know what Wattage these cards both need but I would have though 650W would be enough.
