[SOLVED] PC/Mac/G-sync setup

Hi,

I am planning to do a complete overhaul of my setup.

  • New PC (RTX 3080)
  • Mac (Mini M1X..)
  • Monitor (LG UltraGear 38GN950-B or similiar..)

I would like to achieve a dual setup where I can switch input to the monitor.
Preferably I would like to use Display Port for the PC and USB-C for the MAC,
but no such monitor seem to exist that also have support for G-sync/Freesync.

Looking at high-end KVM switches they still don't support the refresh rates for modern gaming...

Will Mac output via HDMI be good enough? Aspect ratio etc.

Other problems/gotchas to think of?

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

KVM's are generally meant for support teams to manage multiple system's with one or a few displays. As for your above thread's post, what are you overhauling from? They look like you're overhauling to, instead of from.

As for the display;
https://www.gigabyte.com/Monitor/M27Q#kf
https://www.gigabyte.com/Monitor/AORUS-FO48U#kf
from Gigabyte.

Dunno about your budget, your location and your preferred site for purchase though.

Thanks! :)

That's correct I am planning for clean sheet here...I will only move some disks etc. into the new PC.

I guess that if we skip the whole peripheral part (keyboard/mouse) from the discussion I really don't need KVM support since I think (hope) that most monitors could via built in software switch/choose indata source i.e. the PC or Mac?

Would be nice if someone could confirm that is the case...an example with G-sync and both DP and USB-C
