Question Pc micro freeze/stutter after a restart

when booting up my pc, i get little to no stutter, but whenever i restart it, it stutters and freezes for a second on the login page.

i get into the bios/windows icon stage
the circle appears (usually it doesnt on first start up though)
freezes for a little bit
enter home/login page
STUTTER
load up in dersktop and all my programs load.

This only happens with restarts.

Had the SAME EXACT ISSUE with it happening on first bootups, not restarts, but i "fixed it" by not using my hard drive and only using one monitor.

if anyone has any fixes it will be greatly appreciated.

Remove harddrive and see if you can get into bios without it otherwise may be a corrupt os

harddrive is removed, and can get into bios. Boot drive is an ssd and i have another ssd aswell

What are the full system specs? Brand and model of every part includes the PSU.

corsair 32gb vengeance rgb pro (3200mghz)
asus nvidia rtx 4080 (on vertical mount)
crucial 2tb ssd
samsung 970 evo plus ssd (boot)

ONLY happens when there is loading circles in the bios logo section.

Motherboard BIOS fully up to date?

Ram is 2x16 or 4x8GB?

Tested without the GPU riserIs the riser PCIe3.0 or PCIe4.0?

Any cable extensions or Strimers?

Update your bios to the latest version incase it's a CPU conflict.

See if you can still get into bios after that still if that's ok

Proceed to only add the 970 boot ssd if it starts freezing that will be the culprit.

If it boots in fine test the next ssd and see if it boots with both if it hangs it will be that ssd.


I had a similar experience twice

One was a bad ssd

The other time was a bad memory module.

Which if it freezes persist remove 1 memory stick leave one in slot 2 and see if this occurs. If it does switch to other memory stick in slot 2

i cannot test without the mount, the cables do not extend that far.

which answers the next one, no there are not extensions or strimmers.

ill try booting with only the 970, but i do believe i had the same issue when i had the crucial only booting.
ill check both though and update bios

ill check the memory, i did run a windows ram test and it said all good, but ill test again.

still does it , i dont want to buy another set if it isnt gonna fix the issue either.

what are your cpu and gpu temperatures if you can see that ?
