PC Monitors, 1080p and gaming?

Greetings guys!

I've been wondering, do high resolutions(1920x1080 etc)make a difference for games?What's the gain?And i am talking about 22-23 inch monitors.

If you had to choose between a 120 Hz LCD but only with 1680x1020 and a 1920x1080 but with 60 Hz, which would you choose?The kinda 'low' budget monitors i got in mind are: Samsung SyncMaster 2233rz(1680x1020 120hz one) and a Samsung XL2370(60hz 1920x1080).I also own a gtx295, so 3d is possible.

Samsung makes a quality monitor in my opinion (own one myself which is 1600x900). I also have a 1920x1080 dell 23 inch. To me, the difference between the two is night and day, as I find the Dell to be far crisper/clearer, even though it is only 60Hz. My Samsung is 120Hz, but really, I don't think the added 60Hz to the refresh rate makes much of a difference. I'd go for the 1080p monitor myself.

If you're into gaming and especially into FPS gaming. The 120hz is a must, there is no alternative. I am switching to LCD monitors from my 19" CRT. (i've experienced the horror that is a 60 Hz LCD monitor.) Motion fluidity just simply "sucks" at 60 Hz...

Samsung 2233RZ 22" 1680x1050

LG looks best at the moment considering input lag and resolution. I am waiting for the results of the Asus monitor at 3D vision blog. It is LG or the Asus for me. Hope this helps on your decision.

I keep hearing that, yes.. most gamers swear by 120hz but i still don't really get it

In any case, it looks like that its better to wait a little, so that more 120hz LCDs show up.According to DigitalVersus the Acer is still the 'fastest' and the Alienware is the best 'overall' because of the more accurate colors etc.It's a little hard to decide, in my country(Greece) we only got the Samsung and viewsonic ones, so i don't know about prices and stuff.
