Hey all,

Just installed my new AIO but now the pc doesn’t start.

Thinking it might be some shortage, I’ve disconnected the AIO and GPU but it’s still not starting. All that it’s doing is making a slight clicking noise followed by all the LED’s turning off and on again.

PC worked fine before installing the new cooler.

Hey there,

Please list your full PC specs, including make and model of each component and the old cooler you had installed.

Also, what thermal paste did you use?

Hello,

Here’s the full list:
CPU: Intel i9 13900K
GPU: ASUS ROG RTX 4080 OC
PSU: Corsair RM850x
RAM: 4x HyperX Fury 8GB DDR5
New CPU Cooler: Corsair iCue H150i Elite
Old CPU Cooler: Be Quiet Dark Rock Pro 4
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z790 Gaming X AX
Storage: 2x 1TB Samsung 980 PRO M.2

The thermal paste I used is Arctic MX-4

Hi
Working with Amd's myself but for awhile now, I have had to pull and reseat the ram after reinstalling the pump head when it would not boot.

Thanks for the suggestion, just tried that, unfortunately it’s still not booting.

I did reconnect the AIO and noticed that it’s showing a warning icon on the LCD. According to the manual this means that there’s a general error, most likely related to the Controller. Not sure if it’s related or not, but still weird

When you disconnected the aio did you also disconnect the sata power from the psu? That "clicking" sound you talked about sounds to me like one of the psu's protections got triggered.

Yep! Did that as well.

I had the same thoughts about the clicking sound. Not sure why or what is triggering the protection though. The only things I had connected whilst testing were the CPU, PSU, motherboard and RAM sticks.

I Wish Corsair would have done a little better on their plugs for that controller.

Did you look carefully at the Wide narrow plug to make sure it is going in right?

That plug seems to be able to be put in opposite of the little notches.

Yeah, I read something about that earlier. I’ve got it seated properly and in the correct way (having the white stripe of the cable on the same side as the controller). I’ve also double checked that it couldn’t go in any further.

Well Hmmmm

You could try unplgging the Corsair sata power and the 9pin usb and try to power to see if it tries to boot. BUT HAVE YOUR FINGER ON THE PSU SWITCH to turn it off if it doesn't trip the PSU.

If it goes as normal no Psu trip
Then I would suggest Contacting Corsair Tech Support.

I suppose this is going to be a tricky one. Just tried that, still nothing.

Well
If you have totally taken away any chance of the corsair getting power or giving any kind of signal and this is still happening you definitely have something else going on.

IT TOTALLY SUCKS !!!!! To have to think about Bread Boarding but may have to if Vic 40's suggestion doesn’t work.

Corsair RM have some problems with much better and superior alternatives

The RM lineup uses low quality capacitors that other Corsair models do not use, the 1000W RM lineup has failures of failing the OPP and exploding, I don't know if it happens in other models below.
But there is a high chance that RM units will come up with problems or have problems after some time.

Despite that, try changing the motherboard battery and see if that solves it.

Oh man, that doesn’t sound great at all. If it does turn out to be the PSU, do you have any recommendations for a replacement?

Tried having it fully off power for a while, unfortunately still the same. Will try Bread Boarding next sigh

Just tried Bread Boarding it, still no luck. Seems like the CPU, motherboard or PSU might be bad

What I have recommended in power supplies have been the EVGA models (G6 and GT) Seasonic good models are the Prime models with Titanium certification the focus i ignore the lineup I prefer the EVGA G6 and GT models which are superior the G6 is superior to the GT, see in terms of prices what compensates you.
And Phanteks Revolt Pro is a good choice.

You need to put at least a 1000w PSU in that computer.

Maybe you overtightend the cooler, take the cpu out and look if you have any bend pins in the socket. If you're not sure make a few well lit pictures from different angles and we can look for you.

You can use Imgur to post a picture here, use the "img" link.
Click "new post" ->choose "upload images" -> "browse" ->choose the picture and click "open" ->put cursor on the picture that you uploaded->choose "share links" and copy the img link, paste it in your next post.

It could also be, but as he has an i9 and a 4080 with only a 850W PSU, it could be the problem there.
Having the behavior that happens
