Hi, apologies if this is the wrong forum for this.
PC is about 6 years old. It has a SSD drive with Windows on it and 2 standard HDs for storage.
The computer wasn't having a single problem until this happened. I shut it down and unplugged it just to be safe as there was a big storm advancing on my area. Plugged it back in about 2 hours later and turned it on. As it started, a message came up on the black screen that listed my 2 storage drives and the CD/blu ray drive. The message said something about something being reset to default settings or words to that effect. It wasn't specific about what was reset so my immediate worry was somehow the drives were reset.
I had to hit a key to reboot and instead of booting Windows, it just says there's nothing to boot from and to either insert boot media or enter the BIOS and chose a new boot device. I went into the BIOS and noticed that the date is reset to Jan 1, 2014. So was it my BIOS that was reset to default settings?
I went to the boot order and my SSD is not listed as a choice. So I can't boot up Windows as it won't let me choose the drive Windows is on to boot from. The only drives that it shows installed are the 3 that showed up on that initial reset message, the 2 storage drives and the blu ray drive.
I've done some reading and a random BIOS reset could maybe be the motherboard battery? But if the reset BIOS is the reason it's not detecting the SSD, do I need to update the BIOS? I honestly have no idea.
I'm not sure what to do. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
