I Bought a new motherboard, a Gigabyte 945gcm s2l. This is a LGA 775 motherboard. On their website it says that this motherboard supports core2duos. When I try to boot to windows it freezes on the windows logo, this CPU worked in a different motherboard in my sff proprietary dell optiplex. I also have a gtx 750 that should be working even still it is the same issue with integrated graphics. I put in a celeron into my new motherboard and it booted fine. I shut it off and put in my duo and it booted but the PC thought that this was the celeron as it stated in task manager and so I restarted and again it freezes at the windows logo. I reinstalled windows to no avail. I reset CMOS didn't work. I genuinely don't know what to do please help. I've been saving forever for this, I can't gey a job because I'm too young and so I can't afford a better PC. Please help me thanks.

If you haven't done a fresh install of Windows since installing the motherboard, then you are still running on the drivers from the previous motherboard.

Do a fresh install of Windows.

After that update the device drivers including the motherboard chipset drivers and graphics driver.

Here is the download page for your motherboard . You can download the drivers and BIO for your motherboard here.

The graphics driver can be downloaded and installed from here.

Towards the end I state that I reinstalled, and seeing as though the celeron worked and the duo didn't eliminates that possibility. As for the bios update I have no idea where to see for an update and how to update.
