PC not Booting

I decided to try and build my first pc for gaming. I have connected everything and when I finally turned on the psu a light on the motherboard flashes the power button on the case glows but does nothing when pressed. What are the possible problems I should look for?

MSI Z97-GAMING 5 ATX LGA1150
EVGA GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB Superclocked
Corsair 430W ATX12V
8 Gb Ram

Is the 8 pin power cable connected to the motherboard?
Try starting the board with graphics card removed (monitor connected to the onboard).
