So here whats happening:
a WHILE back i had this problem where my pc wouldnt go to sleep on its own and it would just turn off the monitor but the pc is still "awake"(even tho i set the monitor to never go to sleep). Now, back then i had managed to fix this by going to the power plan and changing the settings of the plan. the problem got fixed. Now i have this same problem AGAIN and when i check the power plan settings they were the same settings as i left then when i first fixed the problem. keep in mind the timeout time for the monitor is "never". so if the settings are still the same and nothing has changed....what could be causing this problem?????

You got some thing confused, sleep actually only goes in low power consumption (close monitor, minimum power for HD, GPU, CPU ect.)
The function you want is hibernation, did you turn the feature on ?
Most of the time these function are flimsy at best, sometime they work other time they don't for no apparent reason.
Also did you check the options in BIOS.

that's exactly what i want! and I'm afraid I'm too scared to go the bios.... and how do i turn hibernation back on? but when i press the windows button on my "tool bar" ( or however you that thing) and then click "Sleep" it actually goes to sleep and both monitor and the pc are "sleeping"
