Question PC is not POSTing after installing an NVMe SSD ?

I unplugged 2 SATA drives at the drive end, leaving the cables still connected to the mobo and PSU).
I then installed a new PCIe Gen 4 NVMe SSD in to my PC and when I turned it on it wasn't POSTing.
Another thing to note is that my M.2 slot is PCIe Gen 3.

Steps

1. Removed SATA data and power cables from the drives (not from the PSU or Motherboard).
2. Connected the NVMe SSD.
3. Turned on the PC.
4. Fan lights on but no video

PCIe 3 vs 4 isn't the issue, as the drive should be backward compatible. It might be a compatibility issue between your processor and that drive that might get fixed by a BIOS update. What version are you on?

Or it might be a problem with the drive itself. Going by this review it's a dirt cheap drive that behaves like one. I probably wouldn't recommend spending much time trying to fix this. You'd be better off returning it and getting something halfway decent, either now or after saving up for a while. How desperate are you for extra storage?
