Mobo: gigabyte b350m ds3h
cpu: Ryzen 5 2400g
ssd: Crucial p3 2tb
other parts:
- 2 HDDs
- 1 sata ssd
- gtx 1060
- beQuiet system power 9 400w

I bought a new ssd to install in my system. After installing it, I pressed the start button and then the pc powered on but wasnt posting. Only a black screen and no error beeps. The BIOS doesnt show. Without the ssd installed, everything still works fine.
what I tried:
- Updating the BIOS
- Resetting the BIOS config
- waiting a long time after starting the pc (1-2 hours)
- only booting with cpu, ram and the ssd installed

I have looked for other people having the issue but only found one person. He had multiple m.2 slots and after he moved the ssd to the other slot it work fine for him

Hi there. Have you tried with a stronger PSU ?. Also, I'd try with other SATA port. Try to unplug those HDDs, with only SSD connected. If it doesn't work, maybe SDD is faulty

I'm not 100% certain on this one, but the manual mentions the athlon and a series APUs not supporting NVMe SSDs. I wouldn't be particularly surprised if this was the case for your 2400G as well since it has limited PCIe lanes.

edit: The bottom PCIe slot on your board is likely from the chipset so you could install an adapter with M.2 there, but it would be limited to PCIe 2.0 speeds.

Also the situation you found with someone who got it working the second M.2 on their board would have been provided by the chipset.

I bought a 1TB M.2 NVMe drive for my desktop PC but it wasn't recognised in the BIOS. I tried another drive from a different manufacturer and it worked perfectly.

I transferred the "difficult" drive to another computer and it was immediately recognised by the BIOS and Windows inatalled OK.

Presumably it was a compatibility issue with the first mobo. Annoying if you don't have another drive to try out and can't RMA the first drive.
