I have a bit of a problem with a server I'm building.
When I turn on the PSU the fans start spinning, but it won't post, nor does it beep. It also doesn't beep without any RAM.
I've gone through the checklist here: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/261145-31-perform-steps-posting-post-boot-video-problems however these steps didn't help me. I've tried moving the RAM around, 3 differpent PSU's and 2 different sets of CPU's. My assumption is that it is a bad motherboard, but I'm hoping to be proven wrong.
Specs:
Motherboard: Intel S5400SF
CPU: Xeon X5450 x2
RAM: FBDIMM DDR2 667 MHz x4
PSU: 430 Watt Thermaltake
EDIT: Upon closer inspection I found one of the pins in the CPU 1 socket was bent. I tried to bend it into the correct position as best I could. Now the unit will start up for about 10 seconds when the PSU is turned on, then all the fans will shut off. The LEDs on the motherboard are still on.
