'm trying to figure out whether I have a dead cpu, a dead motherboard or both.
Little back story, a week and a half ago before I left for work, I left my computer running to let it render a project I had in my DAW. When I came back from work, the PC was off. Upon turning it back on, i got no post. Fans spinning. GPU and CPU cooler lights and fans still spun. Case power light was on, however the LEDs at the front that usually flash on and off when booting up were off. Restarted the PC by holding down the power button and pressing it again to turn it back on. Same story. All 3rd party components turning on but still nothing showing on the peripherals.
First case of action was to test the PSU so I took the 24 pin and did the paperclip test and it passed. I had a doubt that it wasn't my psu because it was powering up everything just fine. Next I took out CMOS battery and dumped the CMOS data using the jumper and restated them both after 10 minutes. Still nothing. Took the GPU out to see if it was that, unfortunately the board was an old second hand craigslist board I got years ago so it didn't have any onboard graphic output so I just tested whether or not the LEDs would light up with the GPU out. Nope. Next I started removing each stick of ram individually until there was only one left. Nothing. Reseated them each individually one by one but still no post. I've pretty much narrowed it down it being the CPU or the Motherboard but I don't know for sure since the mobo didn't come with the mini onboard speaker so I have no idea what it could be.
What do you guys think?
