Alright, so like many here I have taken on the task of building a gaming PC. I have most of the components gathered (still missing a video card and operating system). I decided to give the PC a quick dry run and see if the PC powers on. I plug everything in, flip the switch on the PSU, and press the power switch but all that occurs is the LEDs turn on briefly then nothing. No lights, no fan movement, nothing. I am theorizing I need the graphics card to power on fully but figured ask the worldwide web for a second opinion. Am I correct or is it something else?

Well welcome building a PC. I have been were you are. No you do not need a graphics card to test. Depends on the CPU but, most not all CPUs have a graphics card builtin through I would not play games with it.

Did you plug in the CPU power cable? Its a 4 pin connector this is the one I always miss. This connection is next to the CPU. Re check all power connections, did you use thermal paste on the CPU?

Specs:
- AMD - Ryzen 3 1200 3.1GHz Quad-Core Processor
- MSI - B350 PC MATE ATX AM4 Motherboard
- Patriot - Viper Elite 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR4-2666 Memory
- SK hynix - SL308 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
- Corsair - CXM (2015) 450W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply
- Asus - DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer

MOBO did not beep. Just the LED fans came on for maybe half a sec and then wouldn't come back on
