PC not running some games

So heres the thing... My PC was recently built i am able to run PES 2010, Street fighter IV and C&C generals. However games like Call of Duty modern warfare, manhunt and 18 wheels of steel extreme wont run. After installation i click the .exe file to run and the screen goes black and nothing i press on the keyboard works. I have to reset the PC. Please help

PC specs:
AMD athlon II x 2 250 @ 3.0ghz
4gb OCZ ddr2 800
Windows 7 ultimate 64bit build 7600
HIS ATI Radeon 4850 HD 512mb
Rosewill 550W PSU
Viewsonic VA2223WM 21.5" LCD

Hi newcomer and welcome to the Tom's hardware forum.

Set your CPU to the stock frecuency and try again, also, remember that Win 7 is a new OS, so, some games could need a patch or update to run well.

well i update the graphics and same thing happened. Which results do you want me to post @'okini55'?
@ saint19 i think it is at the stock... I didn't change anything; nothings overclocked.

I think that problem because your 64bit Win7...
I'm currently use win7 32bit, Call of Duty modern warfare, PES 2010 and Street fighter IV runs very well, don't know about manhunt and 18 wheels of steel extreme...

Install DX9 an try with this, if the games work, install DX10 and try again, if doesn't work rollback to DX9.

I can run any games on 7 x64 without problems.

in dxdiag (direct X diagnostic tool) it states that i have direct x11 install. I think that came with the mother board CD. Should i roll that back and how?

This can help you, BUT do a restore point before delete the key of the regedit.

By default after the reboot, Win XP must install DX9, if this not happen, you can download here

I found out what the problem was... I reinstalled 'Modern warfare' to the default folder which is in Program files X86. However my hardrive is partitioned the drive that the game is now on is close to full is there any way around installing the other games to the hard drive which has on Program files x86?

You can buy another HDD and spanned your currect HDD to the new, or spanned in one HDD that you have.

^if you second partition have all the space available, you can use it. O delete files and programs that you don't use.
