I will assume the drives are on the secondary IDE controller.

1st. check the jumper settings on the drives, make sure one is set to slave, I've found CS doesn't always work on older PC's

2nd. Check the cable and power connections

3rd. Check the BIOS settings.

4th. Check the drivers for the devices. The CDr may need to be added to your hardware settings.

It could even be conflicting IRQ settings, I would not worry about those unless every option fails.

Good luck

Do what the others have said...and don't forget to clear the bios if it had other stuff connected befor,so it sees everything as "new hardware".

Hi mrreality13,
Typically the burner is jumpered Master and the DVD player is Slave.
BIOS is just for harddrives - secondary Master and Slave should be set to 'None' in BIOS (Auto setting just wastes time).
Red stripe to the side of HD with the power connection, and the Pin1 on mobo (the ribbon cables really only fit on the correct way) and that's all you can do! Unless the secondary controller on IRQ15 is disabled in BIOS or whatever, it should work.
Note: most burners will come up as at least UDMA Mode2 (a goodly setting) however master/slaving 2 optical drives will often knock them both back to PIO mode.
But at least, hopefully you can get them going anyway...
Hey the Voodoo3-3000 was the big-$$ board, LoL - I had a Voodoo3-2000 and it had only a passive cooler. Those vidcards don't AGP by the way - if you see it as 'disabled' in dxdiag, that's normal.
That's not too bad of an old rig (it's kinda like my old Athlon1000). You could buy an inexpensive modern vidcard for it, something like a GeForce6600 for $69 bucks...
But hopefully you can get those drives going,
Regards
