Building a hefty gaming pc for a buddy and I can't figure out why it won't fire up. When I push power everything that's supposed to light up, lights up and the fans move but only for a split second. Any recommendations would be appreciated. I have been told it could be a CPU or CPU fan issue (in this case a liquid cooled radiator) . The specs are:

Intel I 7 7700k
Geforce 1080
Asus Prime z370-a motherboard
32gb ddr4
Corsair H100i v2 liquid cpu cooler
Evga 750 watt power supply.

The 7th gen CPU is not compatible with that motherboard. Sorry. You are not the first to make such a mistake.

You must change to an 8th gen CPU to use that motherboard. Or, to a 200-series chipset motherboard to use with the 7th gen CPU.

I would reseat the RAM first, and then give it a try. Then if neccessary, reseat the CPU & COOLER. Check for any bent pins and/or thermal paste in the pins.

Also verify that the CPU power cable is plugged in.

Here are two check lists on this topic. Check for anything grounding the motherboard to the case (like a loose screw).

You're right. The 7000 series CPU'S need a Z270 instead of a Z370.
