[SOLVED] PC not turning on after installing a new fan

My friend installed a new fan and got a hard disk message saying "this might take over an hour to repair". He later signed in to Windows and the desktop loaded with no taskbar or any shortcuts. He tried everything he could but nothing happened. He waited 5 hours and still no result. Does anyone know how to fix it?

Have you gone into you C:\Users and checked if your profile is there, I'd check that your profile is still there and that it does still have your desktop icons, I doubt putting a new fan in would have caused your windows to be corrupt, most likely cause by improper shutdown or boot drive being disconnected.
